I'm Nicole Steward and I am a social worker (MSW), communications professional, and a crafter extraordinaire. I started this blog in 2010 after being laid-off during the sweeping California state budget cuts. Now I'm on my own as a consultant and small business owner and I'm trying to get back to the basics in my life.
I'll be posting pictures, quotes, how-to's, and helpful tips in the areas I know best: social justice, communications, and craft. I'm also a new-ish Californian, having grown up in Ohio and lived in PA and CT, so there will be lots of post about how amazing Cali is.

One of my greatest joys is being a middle child. My sisters mean the world to me and I talk to & about them a lot.
My older sister December is a mother to my adorable nephews Ian and Lincoln. She's a warrior mom, fighting for the health of her kids, and she's my hero.
My little sister Rosalyn is a lawyer and the most fun person I know. You never know what she's going to say or do and I love her perspective on the world.
I wouldn't be who I am without my sisters!
I'm married to a wonderful man named William/Will/Bill.
We have a high-drama, cuddly Bichon Frise named Chomsky.
